InovAtiva Brasil is the name of a project developed by a Brazilian Ministry of Development program, Industry and Foreign Trade(MDIC). This project encourages technological entrepreneurs across the country that provide training and mentoring for the establishment of new businesses in different sectors.The final stages of the program, which included a partnership with the British Embassy and the UKTI (UK Trade and Investment agency), were held in the “Land of the Queen”, where the selected companies could present their projects in the first week of february.

Mereo, represented by its partner and Business Director Ivan Cruz, was one of the 14 selected companies, from among 2,800 submited projects, to participate in the UK Chapter, which took place in Manchester and London. At the time, the companies had the opportunity to connect with potential investors and partners.
After this last chapter, six startups were selected to participate in the “Demo Day”, the last round of pitches of the program. In it, the companies: Aquarela, EasySubsea, Forebrain, Inteletron, Mereo, Mogai and Ukkobox had the opportunity to present their projects to more than 20 European investors at the Brazilian Embassy in London.
The main selection criteria adopted by the board were, maturity to receive investment, market technological potential to attend Europen markets, and the evolution of the company during the program.
When making a general review about Mereo’s participation at the program after eight months of training, workshops and business meetings, Cruz classifies that Mereo’s participation at the Inovativa Brasil program was very important in some ways”. The first was access to great mentors, who discussed some crucial aspects of our business model and helped to improve our value proposition. The second aspect was the access to an extensive and valuable contacts network with high potential to generate businesses, partnerships and fundraisin for 2016”.
Cruz concludes that “understanding which executives drive business is a problem not only for Brazilian companies but also worldwide”. Mereo has an unique solution that combines the best of methodologies, practices and technology to manage the development of companies and the individuals who work there. The Mereo platform is actually exported to over to 20 countries and its available in 6 languages.
For 2016 Mereo, which has satisfied clients in its portfolio such as Pão de Açúcar, BRF and Petronas seeks to strengthen its presence in the Brazilian market. Mereo also plans to expand its operations to foreign markets through its monitoring and performance tracking platform, establishing centers of international excellence through the system of partnerships with local companies. “We are initially working with six countries:.
